Necropolis Festival in Chicago cancels 2 weeks prior to debut

Necropolis Festival Chicago cancel

The newest entry into Chicago’s festival calendar, Necropolis has been canceled just two weeks before it was set to debut.

Cancelation of the Halloween-themed festival set to take place October 29 and 30 2022 was announced on Instagram.

“We are sad to announce that Necropolis will not be occurring this year,” the post on October 13 2022 stated. Organizers would only say that while they “strive to put out the best experience possible for our fans, unfortunately we no longer feel that we can accomplish this.”

Produced by Auris, Necropolis is the second major EDM festival in Chicago to cancel this year. Veteran Chicago promoters React Presents announced in May that Spring Awakening Music Festival — originally set for July 2022 and marking the festival’s 10th anniversary — would be postponed until 2023.

Necropolis further announced “additional indoors shows” with some of the artists who had been scheduled to play at Necropolis, and that ticket holders would be receiving information on refunds.

Billed as a Halloween Festival, Necropolis had only been announced eight weeks ago with headliners Adventure Club, Alison Wonderland and Peekaboo. Original materials promised “2 stages // 2 massive tent structures” set up at Chicago’s Northerly Island.
